Back in November I had the privilege of documenting the annual Tunes For Tanzania benefit concert at Schuba’s Tavern in Chicago. Tunes For Tanzania is a fundraiser to raise awareness for Opportunity International’s microfinance work in Tanzania. Here is some information about Opportunity International and their YAO program (taken from the Tunes For Tanzania website, because they explain it better than I would!):
What is Opportunity International?
Opportunity International provides life-changing loans, savings, insurance and training to over four million people working their way out of poverty around the world. Learn more about microfinance as a sustainable solution to poverty at www.opportunity.org.
Who are Young Ambassadors for Opportunity?
Young Ambassadors for Opportunity (YAO) is a network of innovative and energetic young leaders committed to supporting the work of Opportunity International and raising funds and awareness for the Opportunity International’s transformational work in the fight against global poverty.
YAO has ten 10 chapters across the U.S. & and Canada. The YAO-Chicago chapter has nearly 100 Ambassadors who participate in educational and social chapter events, national conferences, and annual ‘Insight Trips’.
There were three main bands that performed (as well as one of YAO Chicago’s own who opened up with her beautiful songs on the guitar!) amidst food, drink, fabulous raffle prizes–including Bear’s game tickets, and a presentation/video about Opportunity’s work in Tanzania.
It was such a fun event to shoot and I was glad to donate my time for such a great cause!
